Thanks Teoh, you are the go to guy for all art tips! I've learnt loads from you and wanted to say thank you😊
Oh no, did you lose your Cotman box that you loved so much????? Or a different box?
I am always so jealous of your custom sketchbooks! Wish I could get ones like that in the USA!
Today I found a local urban sketchers group on the internet. 🥳
Thank you for being so thorough. Your reviews often merit a second or third viewing …
Your sketch came out great! Love the big blocky stylised shapes contrasted with your more delicate ink drawing
Thanks for experimenting with these jumbo markers on camera. In a larger sketchbook with black linework over the top, those markers could make for some really cool drawings, especially if one doesn't have much time. I could see where such an experiment would be good for someone like me, who struggles with adding too much detail when sketching.
You have the coolest shit!
Got myself the Duke 209 and filled it with Lexington Gray ink, but hasn’t worked out well. Not sure what’s causing it to skip, poor ink flow, so I stopped using it, The Sailor Fude pen works good with Platinum carbon ink. Recently, emptied and cleaned the Duke 209 and letting it sit because I don’t know what to do. Maybe the Duke 209 would do better with Platinum carbon ink?
Thank you, that was super interesting! I like your real honest opinion about it.
Sooo cool all the folks coming out to sketch together. I love seeing all the results 👍
I find your videos to be very relaxing, and ASMR like, thanks to the gentle way you talk. Keep up the good work!
This is so wholesome!! I loved seeing everyone's sketches at the end! It's so interesting to see what others focus on while urban sketching. Thanks for the video! It was so nice.
How's the pencil holding up? Is it still usable?
Still works. Clutch pencils like this is kinda difficult to damage.
Wow your whole kit looks in such great condition! How do you keep your kit looking so good? I swear by the time im done using my sketchbooks they always look like they have been through a warzone or something. Im not at all rough on them either.
I try not to put the sketchbook on the ground too much or it will get dirty very quickly. The first thing that deteriorate is usually the elastic bang.
What is the solution bro?
Get a thinner plastic screen protector.
Those things are neat, but look like more trouble than they are worth, to each his own. Thanks for the review. You did great!
oooh those markers look fun!!! 😮
a realy spezial set to have a lot of fun 😁good to know that there is a brand with handmade colors ... they use often also historical pigments and they like to create colors by themselve in the old way with a lot of knowledge. for example > cooking plants or roots to get colorful pigments at the end, they make coal of the core from different fruits for some colors and so on. you can also get a set for experiments > to create your own colors from 3 pigments and other ingridiences... etc. the whole homepage by kremer-pigments is very interesting 😃
Wow, you did a great job even with such big markers. They look like they would be good for backgrounds.
Those jumbo acrylic markers are more suited to vandalism of public structures than sketchbooks.
LOL
Exactly!! 😂
Very interesting look with the bigger markers. Not bad, just different! I like it!
What a wonderful and inspirational gathering for folks.
Wow!! What an amazing group of skillful artists!
wow
Hi Teoh ❤
Using the paper clamp to hold your brush is brilliant!
So Michaels' sells Higgins Fountain Pen India ink. It specifically states fountain pen. What's the deal?
It's not common to see "fountain pen" and "india ink" in the same sentence. Anyway, India ink is usually waterproof but that Higgins one is not waterproof. If you need waterproof ink for drawing, see this list www.parkablogs.com/content/waterproof-fountain-pen-inks-drawing
@@teohyc Thanks, I need ink for my fountain pen for writing. So can I use india ink or not? Thanks.
@@pattiel1108 It will work for writing. It doesn't matter whether it is waterproof or not for writing
@@teohontech7141 But your video says not to use india ink for fountain pens....
@@pattiel1108 Because I have never seen India ink made for fountain pens. Marketing India ink as fountain pen ink is misleading, because real india ink will clog the pen.
I can live with a pen that needs charging, less extra buttons or not using some programs. Even the shady drivers or not really having any support. But the colors are so bad I'd rather buy a smaller tablet for the same price. Don't be greedy, people. It's a tool for art.
It’s good paper but they’re Mixed Media sketchbooks not solely Watercolor. I have the small one because I wanted to try out the brand. It doesn’t eat my colored pencils and takes WC very well. Pen does quite well also. Everything looks great when it comes to color and vibrancy. It’s a bit expensive because Fabriano Artístico is expensive paper in and of itself. I may buy one a year as a splurge for me item but the cost isn’t conducive to a regular ongoing purchase, imho. I’m not a Pro but I can use up a sketchbook in no time doodling and urban sketching. I do really like the sketchbook. I mean sketchbooks are just for you not the museum or commissions. Good cotton sketchbook are a dime a dozen nowadays.
ICC color profile please 🥺🥺
You can cut them up and put them into your empty pans and just use them as normal water colour. It’s actually a lot cleaner than working with traditional wc
hello is it that escoda ultimo a real squirrel hair?
Any one from Pakistan ❤❤❤???
Hmm, I would prefer this bag to be slightly bigger actually. So when you move sketchbook away from your body at 11:30 it would still be supported by bag and could be clipped to bag. But that's my preference 😆Overall it's neat little bag, perfect for travelling or if you just want to have option to carry your little painting set up with you in case you may want to paint sth but don't want a hassle of big bag.
Taeoh can you do review for lenovo yoga 7i ( with intel ultra)? Is the pen jittering so bad?
I just discover your review of my book! Thank you so much :)
Your dedication to this review is commendable.
I think that a large chested woman would have difficulty with that design.
Thanks. I didn't think of that
Yes, was definitely not designed with breasts in mind. I’m only mid-chested and wouldn’t attempt to use this.
Thanks for the review.
This actually just helped me save my ink bottle, kind of. My ink turned completely to rock with no liquid at all. So I mixed it with some water, shook it a good while and it’s not perfect. It works now.
Hi, how does Huion PW100 stylus compare to Xp Pen PA1 in terms of IAF?
Quite similar. The pen tech for such pen displays and pen tablets have matured years ago
its still too expensive and too awkward... its a good idea that still isn't fleshed out yet.
Seeing videos like this makes me want to just use colored pencils for sketching-no water needed and all the extras that is needed with watercolor. Just a sketch book and a couple of colored pencils. Also i have bad knees so i need to sit.
What's your watercolor box called? With the clip
Micro Portable Painter www.portablepainter.com/micro
I have the original. Very good review.
Much as I like the size of that case for carrying around, I think for myself as a woman with big squishy woman bits, they would get in the way of seeing the board properly. So it would need to be deeper. Probably the next case size up. I hope that made sense, I couldn't think of another polite way of saying it 😂 For myself, I made a board out of foam board, that slips into the top of the sketchbook. I put a bit of magnet tape on the board and some on the bottom of my portable painter micro and that holds really well because the palette is so light. I could have tried some of those clips with the magnet on the back but I didn't have one. They would work better than the tape if you have a heavier metal palette. I mix in the water part of the palette because I don't trust myself not spill the water if I put it in there. I have one of those little metal clip on containers that are supposed to be used for oils, as my water cup. It feels safer as the top is narrower and the lid seals so I can carry the water in it if I want to. You can get those containers as two on a clip too, if you want clean and dirty water. The foam board is surprisingly strong and very light so beware of strong winds while you're setting up. That seems to be the only downside so far.
As one of those special females I understand totally🤣
Yep, that was my thought as well. My view of the board would be blocked by … me.
You call geranium red a cool red. To me it seems more like a warm red?
Hey Teoh, thank you for demonstrating this new product. I'm really interested in getting your opinion on how this bag compares to the Darsie Beck bag, which you've reviewed in the past (and which I use). (I do also have, and have used, the Etchr Slate Mini, so I'm familiar with how the Etchr design works.) It seems like the Darsie Beck bag has more storage and is therefore bulkier, though it's made of lightweight material. I do find the Darsie Beck bag dances around a bit when worn cross-body when sketching, though. The Etchr design felt more stable to me.
Darsie Beck's has more pockets, and has a strap dedicated to holding a watercolour box. And it has side pockets for easy access to extra pens, and a side pocket to fit a 500ml bottle. The Etchr one has fewer pockets
